SCHEDULE: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, half hour lunch, Monday to Friday
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. The following are the necessary duties to be performed:
- Implements health and safety policies and procedures.
- Oversees the Health and Safety training program, providing group and individual safety training for staff and management on an ongoing basis, including First aid and CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Employee certifications
- Conducts risk assessments, hazard inspections, and site evaluations across all ACI locations, including community worksites.
- Assists with workers' compensation claims by collaborating closely with HR and third-party administrators for effective claims management.
- Investigates workplace injuries and delivers necessary training.
- Refers injured individuals to the clinic as necessary and follows up on their cases until resolution, maintaining thorough documentation throughout the process.
- Keeps abreast of OSHA compliance laws and procedures, ensuring safety awareness among employees and consumers and that OSHA posters are current.
- Compiles monthly safety reports, analyzes incident data and trends, and recommends strategies for risk mitigation.
- Offers guidance during monthly safety meetings and evacuation drills, including the annual Great California ShakeOut.
- Distributes monthly email reminders to staff regarding policies, procedures, and drills.
- Assists management in developing an accessibility and safety plan.
- Ensures all vehicles are equipped with first aid kits and vehicle accident report forms.
- Verifies that in-house first-aid kits and emergency supplies are adequately stocked and orders new supplies as necessary.
- Participates in Emergency Preparedness Response Plan and directs employees on the procedures.
- Aids in collecting, reviewing, analyzing, and reporting safety concerns noted in Safety Meeting Minutes, Evacuation Drills, Third-party inspections, Vehicle inspections
- Conducts monthly site inspections, including fire extinguisher and eyewash checks, and documents the findings.
- Represents the company professionally in interactions with Workers' compensation and OSHA representatives, Third-party inspectors, ACI staff, Consumers, Other stakeholders
- Receives direction from the Executive Director.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Works independently and as a team.
- Attends courses/classes/seminars/webinars to stay current with CERT, Non-Violent Crisis Interventions, First-Aid/CPR/AED, and other Health and Safety training.
- May be required to complete the Cal/OSHA appeal forms, schedule informal conferences with OSHA representatives and address citations during the appeal process.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Two years of college or Associate's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, Environmental Safety or related field is preferred. Or 2-5 years of experience in a health and safety role such as experience in risk assessment, compliance, or safety training. Proficient in reading, writing and math skills; proficient in office software, Google Drive, spreadsheets. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Valid California driver’s license and driving record acceptable to insurance companies. CPR and First Aid certificate required.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common, technical documents and safety rules; operating and maintenance instructions; ability to respond to inquiries and complaints from staff, customers, and other stakeholders; ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies; represent the company in a professional manner to top management; speak effectively before groups. Knowledge of risk management to include workers’ compensation, safety rules and regulations, OSHA compliance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands of this job include the use of arms, hands, and fingers; standing and walking; bending over and lifting; twisting; squatting; carrying; reaching forward and above your head; moving or pushing; and lifting/pushing up to 50 pounds. Vision demands include close clarity and focus, distance, peripheral, and depth perception. Hearing demands include the ability to focus in the presence of distracting sounds, and to listen for and identify changes to factory or machinery sounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- 30% of the work environment is typical of a warehouse with noise level moderate to high, and the work areas are not always climate controlled. You’ll encounter moving mechanical parts and machine vibrations; powered equipment; compressed air; propane powered forklift; boxes of merchandise; pallets and shelving of material; recycling materials. May be exposed to a warehouse environment;exposed to various chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, heat, cold, wind and seasonal changes in climate.
- 30% of the work hours is spent in the community, driving and visiting worksites; meeting with third party representatives relating to health and safety, worker’s compensation, clinic, OSHA.
- 40% of the work hours is spent in an office environment.
COMPENSATION: $20.00 - 25.00/hour
The above range is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
